F.X. Schmid “The Barnstormer” by John Wilson

Since the Coronavirus Pandemic began, Jenny's been kind enough to let me occasionally do laundry at her house to avoid the public laundromat.  I did this 300 piece puzzle today while at Jenny's house.  I timed myself, and it took about two hours.

This F.X. Schmid puzzle is marketed as a "large format edition" with "easy to handle" pieces.  Finished, it measures 18 x 24 inches.  The artwork is by John Wilson, and copyright 2004.  The box credits "license granted by Wild Wings."  Made in Germany.

The large pieces and smaller piece count made this a fun mental exercise to complete quickly.  I love the old time country image.  It had lots of details, like the dog chasing after the plane, the slingshot in the boy's back pocket, and a clothesline in the deep background.  A fun vintage puzzle over fifteen years old!

SunsOut “Animal Kingdom” by Howard Robinson

Here's another wild animal themed puzzle, this one by SunsOut, titled "Animal Kingdom" from artist Howard Robinson.  At 300 pieces this is definitely a puzzle Landon could do on his own, though mom Jenny may have kept him company.  Its finished size is 24"by 18.  It's made in the USA.  I love the combination of animals and the tropical leaves lending a jungle feel.

Landon and Jenny may be ready for a little puzzle break, after completing eight puzzles in just over a week.  I'm sure they'll be back with another puzzle before the school year ends.

Golden Movie Poster Puzzle "Walt Disney Pictures Presents The Rescuers Down Under"

At a final size of 2x3 feet, this puzzle is almost as big as Landon!  Now that Landon is eight, he's been so busy that puzzling has taken a back seat to other activities (mostly sports).  But since the advent of "stay at home" orders in the state of California due to Coronavirus as of March 16th, 2020, Landon's finding his old pasttime to be a great hobby once again.

This Movie Poster Puzzle is made by Golden and Western Publishing Company Inc.  It features the Walt Disney Picture "The Rescuers Down Under."  It advertises "extra large, fully interlocking, brilliant color" in its 300 pieces.  A thrift store find, Landon will have fun passing this along to a friend now that he's done with it.

Golden Movie Poster Puzzle “Walt Disney’s Classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”

Landon completed this Movie Poster Puzzle right on his living room floor!  The extra large fully interlocking pieces in brilliant color made this puzzle easy for him to complete by himself, even though it was 300 pieces.  At 2 feet x 3 feet, it's poster sized as well.  Made by Golden, there's a whole series of these Disney Classic movie posters.  We were lucky to find this one complete at a thrift!

MEGA Brands Inc “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian”

Here's a movie poster puzzle I've never seen before.  It's from one of my favorite book series, Narnia.  This one features Prince Caspian, in 300 extra large pieces.  The finished size of this puzzle is 18 15/16" x 26 3/4".  Made by Mega Brands International.

Landon's in a final push enjoying the last few weeks of summer before he starts 2nd grade.  I'm so proud of his problem-solving skills!

Another Cardinal Disney Star Wars Puzzle

I love Landon's such-a-ham face with this finished Cardinal Disney Star Wars Puzzle.  Once again the colors of the puzzle make this a difficult project.  Looks like there were quite a few pieces missing from this thrift store find.  Still, Landon and his mom enjoy their puzzling time together.

Cardinal Disney Star Wars Tower Puzzle

Our favorite theme is back - Star Wars!  This Cardinal Puzzle for Disney is touted as a Tower Puzzle at 14 inches by 11 inches.  It proved to be quite difficult since the colors were tonal and very similar with slight subtleties.  Landon and his mom enjoyed the challenge, collaborating together.

Cardinal Disney Star Wars Puzzles

There's a series of Star Wars puzzles from Cardinal and Disney that have different images on puzzle and box, but no names.  Landon loves anything Star Wars!  These are both thrift store finds, complete.  Each measures 14 in x 11 in.   The pieces are fairly small and the faces are in similar colors, almost a monotone wash, which makes these puzzles difficult.   At 300 pieces per puzzle, there's a lot of time invested in the two scenes!

SunsOut Item No. 38066 "Blueberry Lunch" by Kirk Reinert

I did this easy 300pc SunsOut puzzle in a single evening and glued it to donate to the local animal shelter.  I was a bunny mama before I had dogs, so I love this image!  The colors are really beautiful, with so many shades of green and blue.  The image is copyright 2011.  Once again Caitie was my perfect model.

At 18"x24" the frame was quite expensive, but the local Aaron Bros. got bought out by Micheals, and so I lucked out with the store closing sale.

SunsOut Item No. 59356 "Pets' Picnic" by Howard Robinson

SunsOut "Pets' Picnic" is a wonderfully furry image that contains every possible domestic pet.  So I'm preserving this puzzle by gluing it with Mod Podge, then attaching foam core as a backing.  I plan to donate it to the local animal shelter to bring a little whimsical atmosphere to the building.  It measures 18" x 24" and is copyright 2006.

I received this puzzle as a freebie in a box off Craigslist.  Because it was only 300 pieces, I was able to complete it in one night of babysitting.

Golden "Walt Disney's Classic 101 Dalmations" Movie Poster Puzzle

Another 300 piece movie poster puzzle from Golden.  Puzzles helped Landon pass the time when his leg was in a cast after breaking it his first time ice skating.

Movie poster puzzles are another favorite theme.  This 300 large piece puzzle was perfect for Landon!
